- Optional Practice – Thursday, January 29th: 1-day a week program January 27, 2015
Hello 1-day a week BKL families,
To make up for lost time, we are pleased to announce that many of our coaches have volunteered to come out on Thursday, January 29th for an optional fun practice. If you can get your children and their skis to Garipay, we should have lots of light, reasonable temperatures, and plenty of snow to ski on!
Parents are always welcome to join us. Our coaches would love your help!
Location: Garipay Field Time: 3:30-4:30, Thursday, 1/29/15 Technique: Classic Aricca: 603-715-7233; bkl.one.day@fordsayre.org
- Practice is CANCELED for Tuesday, 1-27-15: 1-day a week program January 26, 2015
Hello BKL 1-day a week families,
The Hanover School System has cancelled school tomorrow, so our practice will be cancelled. You can go here for Hanover School System cancellations. This is a Ford Sayre policy. Of course, you are welcome to frolic on your skis on your own in the new snow – we just can’t officially provide the coaching.
Because the 1-day program has had to cancel many practices this season (due to school closings, temperature, and excessive ice), we are exploring the possibility of having an optional practice later this week. More details to come as soon as I know if enough of our coaches are available…
Notes:
- Come support the Hanover High School jumping team this Wednesday, at 6:00pm (in the dark!) at the NH High School Ski Jumping competition. It takes place at Oak Hill. If you are curious about the sport or just want a thrill, go check it out. For more details, go to our Community events page.
- There will also be a Ford Sayre jumping meet at Oak Hill this Saturday at 10:00. Come watch some of our FS skiers fly through the air on enormous skis!
- The Ford-Sayre-favorite Mountain Top Paintball Biathlon takes place this Sunday, February 1! There will likely be quite a few 2- and 3-day a week BKL children attending – and it may be a fun race for some of our 1-day a week BKL children to try out! Go here or here for information and here to register.
- We have had notice of many exciting upcoming events. Too many to list here. Please go to the Community Events page to see more details (to be posted soon) – note the Tiki Torch Trek in Hartland on Feb 7. It is fun, family friendly, mellow event!
Have fun in the snow!

For safety reasons, we need to CANCEL practice today (January 20).
The Garipay Fields have turned to a sheet of ice, and Dartmouth does not plan to groom Garipay today due to ice and water on the trails.

Hello 1-day a week BKL families,
Last night’s rain was disappointing, but we think we still have enough snow to get around Garipay! As of today, Dartmouth is planning on grooming Garipay on Tuesday morning, which will minimize the potentially icy conditions.
Your children all deserve a huge round of applause for braving all sorts of conditions this year… Rain, wind, cold temperatures, ice, and minimal snow.
Location: Garipay Field Time: 3:30-4:30 Technique: Classic Notes:
- JOIN OUR SNACK CELEBRATION, starting at 4:30! Thank you for those who have volunteered to bring something. Even if you didn’t sign up, please feel free to bring something to share if you able. Please sign out your child, and THEN join the snack celebration. Meet your child’s coaches and other parents and skiers! We are hoping to have all of the BKL skiers at Garipay Field tomorrow (1-day, 2-day, and 3-day a week programs), so it will be a great opportunity to have our full K-8 skiing community come together in one place! Be prepared for a full parking lot!
- APPROPRIATE CLOTHING: Temps are predicted at 20 F, with winds around 8 MPH. PLEASE send your children dressed in non-cotton layers and make sure they have dry, warm, non-cotton socks (e.g. SmartWool). Please minimize their exposed skin. A buff covering their neck and cheeks will be great – and you might cover the rest of their face in a lotion to prevent it from getting chapped.
