- End-of-Season Survey – PLEASE RESPOND! March 18, 2015
Dear 1-day a week families,
On behalf of our coaching team, thank you for a wonderful season! It was a pleasure to be on the snow with your children this year and to welcome so many new families to the Ford Sayre nordic program. I loved that we were able to bring together over 120 members of our community at the end-of-the-year potluck. What a great way to celebrate the successes of our skiers! We are so proud of the progress they made over the course of the season.
Thank you to the many volunteers that made our 1-day program so special. In particular, I want to thank my other lead coaches – Tracy, Kirsten, Susan, and Helena, our assistant coaches, and the myriad of volunteers who helped with sign-in, KAST, snacks, etc! I want to send a special thank you to Beth Simpkins (who found a way to distribute hot chocolate to over 120 children on a weekly basis) and to Susie Matter (who created a great set of activities to entertain our children (at tables!) during the end-of-the-year celebration)!
But now – we need EVERYONE’s help. Please complete our END OF THE YEAR SURVEY!!! We DO want your feedback, as we will use it to set goals for next season and to understand what went well this season. We challenge you to help us achieve at least 80% participation in our survey!
Please give us suggestions on how we can create a really fun learning environment! We want to hear about your delights, your disappointments, and your suggestions for making things better.
WHAT DOES IT TAKE?
- The survey should take less than 5 minutes to complete!
- Survey responses are anonymous (unless you want to add your name so we can follow-up)
- So, do it now! It is easy, and we WILL USE your input to strengthen the program! Help us out by clicking here! Thank you!
OTHER NOTES:
- Lost and found: I still have items in my lost and found (pyrex baking dish, pair of black fleece gloves, a bracelet, a yellow/red ski pole). Let me know if they belong to you!
- Ford Sayre Nordic Committee: Our next Ford Sayre nordic committee meeting is this Thursday (March 19th) at 7:00 pm in the Murray Room of the Howe Library. Committee meetings are open to the public – and we encourage you to come!
- What’s next? E-mail communication will resume in early fall as we close in on ski swaps and the opening of the 2015-2016 program registration.
Thank you again for a fantastic season!

Dear 1-day a week BKL families,
Thank you to the children, parents, and volunteers for coming together to create a wonderful ski season!
END OF THE YEAR POTLUCK BANQUET!
Please join us on March 13 (5:30-7:30 PM) at the Black Center in Hanover to celebrate the accomplishments of your children! Sign-up here to let us know that you can come.
Please let me know if you have any pictures that you are willing to share with the program (and have included in the end of the year slideshow)!
YOUR CHILDREN HAVE LEARNED A LOT!
Be proud of your children! While the BKL program emphasizes having fun and developing a lifelong love of skiing, your children also have been mastering a number of introductory skills – and many are practicing or have mastered intermediate skills. For a description, see: Ford Sayre BKL Skills Assessment.
KEEP SKIING WHILE YOU CAN!
Our formal practices have ended, but the trails are still beautiful! We hope that you and your children continue to go skiing after school or on weekends. Of note, one of the incentives in the Passport to Winter Fun program is a 1/2 day pass for up to 5 people at the Dartmouth Cross Country Ski Trails! Four other area nordic centers also have incentives for children. If you don’t have a pass, this might be a great way for your children to show off their new skills!
LOST AND FOUND
I’ve collected many things over the past few weeks, including a pair of black adult gloves, a pair of black/green youth gloves, and a pair of youth gray ski poles. Please let me know if you think they are yours!
GOOD LUCK to our Ford Sayre BKL Festival participants this weekend!
Nearly 50 Ford Sayre skiers are at Mountain Top Resort this weekend participating in the BKL Festival! Good luck to our racers tomorrow in their individual classic races!
Best wishes,
Aricca; cell: 603-715-7233; bkl.one.day@fordsayre.org
P.S. I love getting feedback on the program – and especially love to hear from the children in the program! I’ll be sending a survey after our banquet – so start thinking about what went well and what could be improved for next year!

Dear Parents of 1-day a week Ford Sayre Nordic Program Skiers,
FINAL PRACTICE: It is hard to believe that our season is almost over! Our final practice is tomorrow, Tuesday, March 3rd from 3:30-5:00 at Garipay Field. We plan to have a photo scavenger hunt for the first half of practice, followed by a mixed age ski celebration in the second half of the session (some fun relay races and activities). Feel free to join us!
END OF THE YEAR BANQUET: Our celebratory End-of-the-Year Banquet is Friday, March 13, from 5:30-7:00 at the Black Center in Hanover. We hope as many of you as possible will be able to attend! The Banquet is potluck style, plus a bit of pizza ordered by the club. Please let us know how you can help and what you will bring by going to the google doc here. We hope everyone will bring something – AND, by signing up for food, you are also RSVPing to the event so we know how many people are coming!
WONDERING WHAT TO DO WITH YOUR USED SKIS AT THE END OF THE SEASON?: If you have used skis that you are willing to donate to our program for the use of future Ford Sayre skiers, please bring them to the banquet. We will collect them and have them ready next season for interested families. Alternatively, you can post your used ski equipment to the Ford Sayre used equipment exchange – and look for the next size up!
We hope to see you tomorrow and at the banquet!
