This is an archive of emails for the BKL 2 and 3 Day program for the 2015-2016 season and earlier.
- Plan for Thursday 2-3-16 March 2, 2016
INFORMATION FOR THE 2&3 DAY PROGRAM:
Location: Dorcas’ Classroom at Richmond Middle School Time: 3:30-4:30 Technique: Indoor practice focused on preparing for the festival: some World Cup race viewing, strategy discussion and work on festival costumes! Wax Recommendation: NA Upcoming Event/Race: BKL Festival at Great Glen! Woohoo! They got 7″ of snow last night and today! NOTES:
We have lots of glittery fabric and ribbons ready for festival-goers to create simple Ford Sayre-colored costumes for the “White Mountain Magic” festival theme. We apologize that this won’t serve every 2-day skier, but with this weather, the other option is to cancel practice. SO, if you are going to the festival, join us for costume making in Dorcas’ classroom at RMS.
NO FRIDAY PRACTICE THIS WEEK!
Skiers and coaches will be heading to the Festival, so we will not practice.
LAST PRACTICE IS NEXT TUESDAY:
March 8th is our last scheduled day of practice. Regardless of conditions, we will find a way to fete the graduating 8th graders as they depart our program. Parents are welcome and encouraged to join us for this tradition for the last 25 minutes of practice.
As promised, we will have SNACKS at the end of our last practice. We’ll provide the cocoa, lemonade and treats. Come celebrate what a wild, wacky & fun season it’s been!
Thanks,
Jane & TracyWORLD CUP IN CANADA!
From Jay Davis, “Maybe this will help counteract the rainy blues a little bit?” Watch the first of the races in Canada here. Heats that involve Americans are around: 1:10, 1:28, 1:36, and 1:46
Some of our JNT skiers and a few BKL kids are up in Montreal today watching the races. Go USA!
And thanks to Angela for sharing this year’s music video by the US Nordic team. Your kids will LOVE this.
GOOD LUCK TO OUR BKL FESTIVAL SKIERS!
Our best wishes to the 47 Ford Sayre skiers from the One and Two-Day programs heading to the BKL Festival this weekend. If you didn’t get a chance to register, but still want to attend the Festival, there is a late registration option available here (until Thursday noon). If you DO register your child late, please let us or your child’s coach know to expect him/her. More coming tomorrow in a festival email.
Cheers!
Ashley and Peter

INFORMATION FOR THE 2&3 DAY PROGRAM:
Location: Dartmouth Skiway, Lyme, NH Time: 3:45-4:45 Technique: skate skiing Wax Recommendation: what you have on is fine Upcoming Event/Race: The BKL Festival is this weekend! An email with more details will come out soon. NOTES:
The only snow in town is at the base of the Dartmouth Ski Way and since the Dartmouth team will be practicing on it on Thursday, WE will practice on it tomorrow! Oh yeah! Join us for some fun there tomorrow. It might be our last day on snow! We know it will take longer for our Norwich/Hanover skiers, so note the timing!
BANQUET:
We will celebrate this wild and wacky season, our coaches, skiers, families and support staff with our annual Ford Sayre Nordic Banquet on Monday night, March 14, from 5-7pm at the Black Recreation Center. THERE IS NO SCHOOL that day in the Dresden school district so your kids can spend the day helping to make the food you bring to the banquet! Perfect! Ursula has put together a google doc here where you can sign up to bring food and help with various jobs. NOTE that there are two tabs on the google doc: one for volunteering, one for food!
BKL FESTIVAL THIS WEEKEND:
A complete organizational email for the festival will come out on Thursday. At this point, we have 41 Ford Sayre skiers participating!
Cheers,
Ashley and Peter
