- Race Organization for Mt Top Paintball Biathlon 2-1-15 January 29, 2015
To All Who Choose to Participate in the Wonderful Event that is the Paintball Biathlon:
We are psyched and hope you are, too! Please help us prepare for our coaching duties by adding your child’s name to the google doc here. Our race organization documents let skiers and parents know ahead of time when their grade level group will be meeting to preview the course and, in this case, practice shooting! We are also hoping skiers will remember that it is important to take a slow ski after they race. If possible on Sunday, coaches will use the cool down with kids to preview the course kids will race if they ski in the BKL Festival (taking place at Mt Top) at the end of the season.
Should be fun! Please make sure your child’s skis are fully prepared according to Jay’s instructions BEFORE you arrive at the race (check them again on the race org. doc. the evening before the race). We will not have waxing equipment on site.
Looking forward to it!
Ashley and Peter

- We forgot to mention that many of our racers were awarded ribbons at the Duathlon. Emily Silver was kind enough to pick them up for those who were not there at the end of the day. Please tell your skier to find Emily at practice in the 5/6 area to get his/her ribbon from the race.
- “Our ski club’s premier event, the Silver Fox Trot will be here soon. I’m helping to organize the facilities for our two Hanover race venues, and am looking for one more generator, as well as several more folding tables. If anyone has a generator and/or a generator a table to loan for the day, please contact me at Cindy.glueck@gmail.com Thanks, Cindy”
- We just received a note from the Director at Mt Top where the race will be this Sunday. She says first that online registration closes Friday night but there is day-of-event registration as well. She also says: “We are looking forward to seeing everyone at Mt Top on Sunday… EVERYTHING is groomed, thanks to Roger and the new PistonBully!… come ski the outer trails… great climbing (you know you have a heart ; )), awesome downhills and great rolling terrain in the national forest, 40 km groomed and ready for your arrival!”

- The Hanover school system has cancelled school tomorrow, so our practice will be cancelled. You can go here for Hanover School System cancellations. This is a Ford Sayre policy. Of course, you are welcome to frolic on your skis on your own in the new snow – we just can’t officially provide the coaching.
- What an AMAZING day we all had at Craftsbury for the Mansfield Duathlon! Over 30 of our skiers raced as well as many BKL alumni, coaches and parents. Despite the cold, there were lots of smiles, and families enjoyed the fantastic trails on their own before and after the races. Many thanks to our coaches, some of whom don’t have children in the program and some who attend races even when their children don’t race. We also send applause to the impressive waxing crew that is comprised of parents and coaches. It is the commitment of these volunteers that makes our program wonderful. Go team!
- Come support the Hanover High School jumping team this Wednesday, at 6:00pm (in the dark!) at the NH High School Ski Jumping competition. It takes place at Oak Hill. If you are curious about the sport or just want a thrill, go check it out. For more details, go to our Community events page.
- There will also be a Ford Sayre jumping meet at Oak Hill this Saturday at 10:00. Come watch some of our FS skiers fly through the air on enormous skis!
- We have had notice of many exciting upcoming events. Too many to list here. Please go to the Community Events page to see more details (to be posted soon)- note the Tiki Torch Trek in Hartland on Feb 7. It is fun, family friendly, mellow event!
- Dennis reminded me that biathlon fans should check out this site for video clips!
- Have fun in the snow tomorrow!
Cheers!

- Race Information for Mansfield Duathlon – Sunday, Jan 25, 2015 January 23, 2015
The Mansield Duathlon is being held at Craftsbury this Sunday. Races begin at 1:00pm with the Lollipops and move on from there. Go here for up-to-date event information. Or here to register through SkiReg.org
The duathlon requires both skate and classic ski techniques. We will have a waxing crew to help with the waxing of classic skis. You must bring your skate skis prepared. Bring both sets of poles. See our organization doc for wax prep information and arrival/wax bench information. PLEASE MARK EVERYTHING WITH NAMES AS THERE WILL BE AN INSANE NUMBER OF SKIS AROUND! Clearly mark the kick zones join the sides of your skis with a sharpie pen and label the top front of the skis with NAME and GRADE LEVEL on a piece of medical tape or duct tape.
It is incredibly helpful if we know IN ADVANCE if your child plans to ski on Sunday so we can be prepared for the number of skis we will have to wax. Please take two minutes to add your skier’s name to our race organization google doc here. Thanks in advance for helping us out.
Craftsbury is a fabulous place for a family ski day, so bring the family, ski together in the morning, enjoy the new lodge and join in the fun of the races in the afternoon.
See you there!
