- Got Gear? September 27, 2015
Omer and Bob’s Team Night is coming up on October 5, 6:30-8:30. In our house that means a certain amount of panic and chaos with kids trying on old gear, pulling out dusty skis and poles, and taking count of what we have and what we need. If you are doing that too, read on and let everyone know what you have to offer on the used gear exchange.
USED GEAR!
We have a very good and easy-to-use system for selling/buying used gear. Let’s all use it! I experimented just now and put up 8 items. It took me about 30 minutes including the addition of photos.
Go here to see what is available and to post your own stuff:
http://leagueathletics.com/Exchange.asp?org=fordsayre.org
Note: make sure to change the expiration date to a later date so you don’t have to repost before the holidays. I set ours for Dec 31. Once you post, the system will send you an email with a code that you have to plug in and then your post goes up.

All,
COMMUNITY EVENTS:
Many ski clubs share information with us about events they host – both xc ski events and ski-related events. We try to post these fliers and information under our “Community Events” page. We encourage you to check that page out periodically. Please see some new opportunities on that page by going here:
https://www.fordsayre.org/nordic/bkl/community-events/
BKL FESTIVAL HOTEL RESERVATIONS:
It seems insanely early (it IS insanely early), but rooms are going quickly at the hotels in the Gorham/Jackson, NH, area where the 2016 BKL Festival will be held in March. We do have a block of rooms booked under the Ford Sayre name. To learn how to make reservations and see relevant information, go to our “BKL Festival” page here:

Cheers,
Ashley and Peter

Hello Ford Sayre Families!
We hope you are enjoying the coming of fall and managing to get outside to play in the woods.
We’re starting to get organized for the xc ski season (woohoo!). Please note some new logistics and upcoming dates/events and feel free to share this information with families that may be joining us for the first time this year. Registration will open in the first week of October.
We look forward to seeing everyone soon. As always, contact us with questions.
Ashley and Peter
CHANGE IN EMAIL SYSTEM:
We are switching to a system where families will receive our regular program posts ONLY if they subscribe on our website page. This is what you should do:
- If your child will be in the same program this year as s/he was last year, do nothing.
- If your child will change programs this year (ie: doing the 3-Day program instead of the 2-Day) you must subscribe to the new program. Go here and click the appropriate program, or look at the top left of our BKL 2&3 Day page and click “subscribe” and choose the appropriate program. Then go to the bottom of this email and “unsubscribe” so you are no longer part of the list for the program your child participated in last year.
- If your child no longer plans to be part of BKL 2 or 3 Day Programs, you can unsubscribe by going to the bottom of this email and clicking “unsubscribe”.
- If you have a friend who will be joining the 2&3 Day Programs this year, tell them to go here or look at the top left of our BKL 2&3 Day page and click “subscribe.”
OMER & BOB’S TEAM NIGHT:
Monday, October 5, 6:30-8:30pm: Team Night at Omer & Bob’s – This is a night during which you can purchase new ski gear at a team discount. Vendors will be present so you can see and try on their gear (Alpina, Salomon, Atomic, Fisher, Rossi and Swix). Each vendor will have reps and we will have coaches on hand to help answer questions regarding fitting skis and poles. For fitting info, go to our site, click on our “ski gear” tab and look for the “checklist for team-night purchases.” Many have found this helpful.
SELL OR EXCHANGE USED GEAR:
If you have gear you would like to exchange/sell/donate to other Ford Sayre families, post it ASAP on our team gear exchange at the address below (“used gear exchange” tab on our site). This is a family-to-family system. Families are responsible for setting prices and taking down items once they are no longer available.

- Annual Mont-Ste-Anne Trip Info for December 2015 July 8, 2015Families have been asking about the details of our FS Mont-Ste-Anne trip and so Emily Silver has put together the information to share with everyone. Thanks to Emily for her continuing work on this trip. We can’t wait for it! Information is below….Ski w/ Ford Sayre families at Mont-Ste-Anne near Quebec City Dec 27th-31st: a tradition in its 3rd year!THE SKIING EXPERIENCE:This will be our third winter continuing the Mont-Ste-Anne tradition, and we have seen that it gives the kids a nice early-season foundation and families a whole lot of fun! While it’s true that if we have good snow in the upper Valley in Dec, we can ski at home, you tend not to ski all day long for 4.5 days in a row when you’re home, and certainly not with so many friends! At Mont-Ste-Anne, each day we will have gathering times for folks who want to ski in Ford Sayre groups, led in an informal manner by parents/coaches. This is completely optional, but as many of us parents have noticed, kids seem to ski w/ fewer complaints when they ski in groups! There are 5 warming huts on the trail system so it is extra fun to ski in packs and take snack breaks together. It can be cold, but the extensive trail system cannot be beat!Quebec City is only 30 minutes away.

We have reserved 20 rooms.ROOM TYPE: Chateau Studio = 2 queen beds; small table for 4; kitchenette w/ stove, microwave, fridge, toaster. You can ask about upgrade costs if you would like a different type of room.HIGHLIGHT: big outdoor hot tub après ski!PHONE & LINK: 1.866.900.5211MONT-STE-ANNE SKI AREA & proximity to our hotel:There is no lodging right at the XC trails except for one big lodge that many people would need to co-rent. Chateau Mte-Ste-Anne is at the alpine mountain, and you can ski to the XC lodge from there, but it’s 7K, so what most families do is drive to the XC lodge in the morning w/ lunches packed, and then individual family members ski back to the hotel at the end of the day if they so desire.QUESTIONS?Feel free to email me! emily.silver@thet.net
