- Slippery Roads! December 1, 2015
All,
The roads are tricky right now and some around town have been closed. We are not technically canceling practice, but please use your good judgement if you feel the roads are too slippery. No reason to push it.
Be safe.
Ashley

Location: Oak Hill Time: 3:30-4:30 Technique: dry land Wax Recommendation: NA Upcoming Event/Race: NA NOTES:
CLOTHING:
Cotton + rain = unhappy child – don’t let your child dress in cotton tomorrow – or to any practice. Cotton is no friend to xc skiers.
WAXING CLINIC TOMORROW:
Let Jonathan Chipman at jonathan.chipman@gmail.com know if you are coming to his clinic tomorrow. The waxing clinic will be held outside during practice in the Oak Hill parking lot. If it rains, we will postpone.
FS CLOTHING ORDERS:
It’s snowing SWIX pants at Kathy’s house. She will be at practice this Thursday 12/3 to deliver clothing orders. She’ll park next to the Tiger! Hats, t-shirts, and buffs make great holiday gifts! Questions? Contact Kathy at kathryn.a.sabadosa@dartmouth.edu
CARPOOLING:
This year, Mellissa Herron, one of our parents, kindly reached out and offered to re-organize our shared information spreadsheet by neighborhood to make it easier for families to carpool. New families may find this especially helpful as they connect with our community, and we encourage experienced families also to take a look and see who is new in your neighborhood and reach out to them. You can download Melissa’s spreadsheet here. If you have questions, please contact Melissa at melissa.herron

THANK YOU!
Word on the street is that the snacks and smiles were wonderful and plentiful on Thursday! Many thanks are sent from Snack Goddesses, Tracy and Jane, for everyone’s help.
WAXING CLINICS:
FS Waxing Clinics: Got questions about ski waxing? Need advice? We’ll be answering questions and demonstrating kick and glide wax application in two upcoming parent info sessions, during practice at Oak Hill on Tues 12/1 and Tues 12/15. Please email jonathan.chipman@gmail.com if you are interested. Also email if you want to learn more but can’t make it to these two sessions.
And, this just in from Omer and Bob’s…
“Beginning XC Ski waxing Clinics in December. These are going to be cool, there will be different waxing stations set up so that everyone can get a chance to practice with the wax and tools. Each clinic will cover glide waxing and kick waxing, and are perfect for people getting involved in Ford Sayre or Bill Koch programs. Since these are hands on clinics, we need to limit each one to 10 people so you will need to sign up for one. The dates are Wednesday 12/2, Tuesday 12/8, and Thursday 12/17 and they will begin at 6:15pm right after regular store hours. These are free events and you can sign up by replying to this email or giving the shop a call 603 448 3522 .”

SNACKS:
Our first snacks will be tomorrow at the end of practice! Please remember to bring something to share (homemade or store-bought). Anything snackable is welcome – cookies, chips, fruit. You may drop-off your contribution at 3:30pm on the 19th or bring it to the party – come join us by the far end of the parking lot around 4:25.
Thanks,
Tracy Zuckerman & Jane Phipps
Questions, please e-mail jphipps24@myfairpoint.netCLOTHING:
Please send your skiers in appropriate clothing for wet and cold. No boots, please (it is surprisingly difficult to run and feel agile in winter boots:)). If you need a reminder of what to wear, we have suggestions here!
ZEALAND FALLS WINTER TRIP:
Every year a group of families skis in to Zealand Falls Hut during February break. This is not a club sponsored or supervised event but has become a tradition amongst families. If you are interested, check out the information at the link on the FS nordic site here.
