In 1936, a man name Ford Sayre, while manager of the Hanover Inn, started providing area kids the opportunity to ski. In celebration of that, 75 years later, the Ford Sayre Ski Council is hosting the Ford Sayre Charity Golf Tournament & Barbeque is back and is scheduled for Saturday, September 10^th. The tournament and barbeque will be held at Hanover Country Club. For the golfers amongst us, it is a great opportunity to pull together your golfing “dream team” for a fun filled tournament with great prizes and a lot of laughs. After the tournament, there will be a party, barbeque and silent auction. The barbeque and party is a great time for golfers, non-golfers, kids and adults to catch up with all of their Ford Sayre friends.

Here is what some of the past participants said about the last Ford Sayre tournament:

• The most fun I have had with my skis off!
• I didn’t know there was something to do in between the Tecnica Winter Finish and opening day at the Skiway.
• That was great … an event that doesn’t last for 40 seconds and take place on a day that is -10ºF.
• Chan…what color wax should I use on a 3 iron?
• Will my tournament winnings cover a pair of SL and GS skis, boots and poles for my little darling?

Seriously, this is going to be a great event for a great organization. Below you will find a registration form for the golf tournament and party. Please don’t wait to register, as we are expecting a big turn out and need to firm up numbers by August 24th. March, 2011: This is the 7th/8th grade BKL group doing a “centipede” during practice.

Nov. 14, 2010: A large group of Ford Sayre Cross Country Skiers and their families had a great hike this month under sunny skies and pleasant temperatures. This first hike was up at the Dartmouth Skiway complete with lunch and a tug-of-war at the top! Our small but mighty BKL kids took on the Junior Nordic high school team in a tug of war and knocked them to the ground! No small feat!

To celebrate Hannah Kearney’s gold medal win at the 2010 Olympics, the following events are planned in Hanover and Norwich:

Hannah Day – Feb. 26, 2010

1:00 pm – Hannah’s motorcade with police/fire escort will arrive at Richmond Middle School for a brief visit with the middle school students in the gym

1:10 pm – The motorcade will leave RMS and drive through Hanover to Hanover High School

1:30 pm – Hannah’s caravan will pull up to Hanover High School for a short celebration with the students along the front lawn

1:40 pm – The motorcade will leave HHS and head for Norwich

2:00 to 3:00 pm – Hannah will be at the Marion Cross School and the Norwich Green for ceremonies on the Bandstand. Parents and public are invited to join in! There will be a number of guest speakers, performances and presentations to Hannah.

There will also be another, separate event sponsored by Marker, Tecnica and Völkl later Friday night at the Hanover Inn, with poster signing from 5:30-6:30pm and refreshments and entertainment 7:00-9:00pm. Hannah Day 2/26
