- Silver Fox Events in Hanover- Mark Your Calendars and Please Volunteer! December 19, 2014Greetings BKL Parents, We have started skiing with much enthusiasm amongst the kids and coaches! The winter ski season is underway. For the past several years, Ford Sayre has hosted a highly popular BKL race. This coming winter, the BKL race will continue and Ford Sayre will also host a NENSA Eastern Cup. These events are a fine way to come together and put on our best Ford Sayre faces for visiting skiers and families. So, mark your calendars for Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2015. You are all cordially invited to help with the races, the Silver Fox Trot NENSA Eastern Cup/Zak Cup/Club Cup for ages 14 and older, and the Silver Fox Trot BKL races for ages 13 and younger! We are lucky and honored to be able to host these events. NENSA Eastern Cups are awarded by a competitive bid process. The BKL races are back by popular demand following several years of a hugely popular and successful event. Lots of young skiers look forward to the day, and parents eagerly await the citizen race after their children are done. Join the party. Fun for all. The more the merrier. We have great race crews forming and hope you will be with us. Click here (or the link below) to complete a simple questionnaire where you can indicate your interest (or, sigh, unavailability) to help with the races and your preferred event. http://goo.gl/forms/iArZdEDpoV Please share this message with anyone you know who might like to be a part of this annual celebration of Nordic skiing and racing! Sincerely, Dennis Donahue (race director) and the Silver Fox Trot Eastern Cup race leaders: Greg DeFrancis, chief of race Scottie Eliassen, race secretary David Loney, chief of course Brian Pogue, chief of timing Lou Bregou (chief of race) and the Silver Fox Trot BKL race leaders: Scott Nichols, chief of course Lars Blackmore, chief of resultsContinue reading →

- Practice Plan for Thursday, December 18, 2014 December 17, 2014
Location: Oak Hill Time: 3:30-4:30 Technique: Skate Wax Recommendation: Basic glide wax Upcoming Race: FS New Year’s Family Fun Races at Thetford Academy 1pm 1/1/15 Notes:
- It’s gonna be funky out there tomorrow! Gotta love New England. But we’ll take the white stuff any way we can get it. Smile about it and your kids will smile, too.
- Want some help with the basics of ski waxing? We are offering two sessions of “Nordic ski waxing for beginners” this week, one on Thursday Dec. 18 (during practice) and the other on Saturday Dec. 20 (4-5pm, location TBA). To sign up, please email chipman@gmail.com letting us know which day you prefer. Not available at either of these times? Don’t worry, more opportunities are coming soon.
- Sorry that Mike/Dartmouth had to leave the cabin early on Tuesday. I know it threw some of you off. You can go to the Occum Pond house to pick up your ski passes. I (Ashely) have all the coaches’ passes in my car.
- If you like to read about top level skiing, check out the National Nordic Foundation site. You can “subscribe” to receive their news as emails, too. There’s some interesting(terrifying?!) information on the use of double poling in racing and you can check out some fun videos on ski development, too!
- Remember, we don’t have practice next Tuesday. Have a great holiday and hope to see you on New Year’s Day at 1:00 at Thetford Academy! Let Vicki know if you can bring a treat to share! Her email is in a previous post.
