- Missing Skis February 10, 2015We are missing a pair of Solomon Skate Skis (8th grade size). They may have gone missing at last Thursday’s practice or possibly the Paint Ball Bi-Athlon. You can tell the conditions have been good for classic. If anyone has seen these skis, please shoot me an email at juliegoodrich@mac.com or Maeve Goodrich at maevegoodrich@gmail.com. - Supporting the Glueck Family February 10, 2015
Dear Friends and Fellow Skiers,
Greetings from Boston where the snowbanks are high and the kids have forgotten that they actually go to school since it is cancelled so much.
As many of you are aware, Sarah Glueck fell while skiing last Friday and broke her leg. She has been in Boston for the past number of days for surgery. She looks great and is in good spirits after a successful surgery yesterday and is looking forward to going home as soon as she is comfortable to withstand the journey and the roads are safe to travel. Dave and Cindy are a bit weary but moving through this adventure with the resilience and positive attitude that we all know and love about them. Sarah will have some time needed to recover and some constant attention needed. She will have physical therapy and some needed patience to get back to her usual steam but is expected to make a full recovery. No doubt, we will see her winning races before we know it.
Given the strain this is to any family, let alone this superhuman one, many folks have wanted to help. Jen Frost has stepped forward to coordinate the effort. If you are interested in further family updates and/or wish to help bring dinner or assist in other tasks for this amazing family, please contact her- jpfrost2000@gmail.com. Of note, given Cindy’s particular health issues it is very important that ill individuals (fevers, coughs, colds, diarrhea, vomiting or general wierdness) stay away from their house. Cindy will be exposed to enough just from her family and we all want her to stay healthy at this important time.
Also, many have appropriately wondered why Sarah needed to travel to Boston given the medical resources in Hanover. She had a particular repair needed and the specially trained surgeon who normally performs this procedure happened to be out of town. The physician on call felt it was prudent to send her Boston. We are all grateful that Sarah sailed through this procedure and hope she continues to sail through the recovery.
Cindy and Dave feel enormously fortunate for all the support from their community. Thank you for all!

- A note from Heather Rowland, Food Table Guru for the Silver Fox BKL Race:
Hello All,
A tradition at the Silver Fox Trot is for our team to provide food and drinks for all of the participants to enjoy after their races. To make this happen, we’d love for all the families to contribute something and here’s the plan for an assortment of treats.
If your last name begins with:
A through H – please bring baked goods (muffins, cookies, breads, etc.). There will be no plates or utensils. If bringing breads or bar cookies, pre-cut would be preferable.
I through S – please bring drinks (juice, cider or water) and/or paper hot beverage cups to match. A large of cooler of water will be provided.
T through Z – please bring fruit (apples, sliced oranges, bananas, grapes etc).
If anyone would like to help with the food tables on the day of the race, please contact Heather Rowland at h_rowland@hotmail.com or call 603 277-9746. It would be good to have at least one adult there throughout the day to monitor the tables, clean up spills and to help with setup and cleanup. If 2-4 people volunteer, it should make it easy to rotate folks in and out and enable you to see your children race.
All contributions are greatly appreciated!!
See you at the Silver Fox Trot!
Heather Rowland
- Logistics: Crazy Costumes, Snacks, 5:00 End of Practice February 7, 2015
Hello 1-day a week BKL families!
A few announcements to share:
- 5:00 End of Practice: The days are getting longer and the snow is dreamy, so from here until the end of the season, our 1-day a week BKL skiers will practice from 3:30 until 5:00!
- SNOW and SNACKS! We are trying AGAIN! A combined 1 & 2 day program snack celebration is scheduled for this coming Tuesday, 2/10 after practice. There will be hot cocoa and yummy treats. We hope that you will bring food to share (homemade or store-bought) & join the festivities. We will have over 200 kids! Please e-mail me if you plan to contribute, or sign-up to bring something at: www.SignUpGenius.com/go/10C0E4DADAF23A1FE3-bklsnack3/
- Costumes and crazy hats! Both programs will be skiing at Garipay on Tuesday and it should be a blast. To get psyched for the Silver Fox Trot races, we are inviting coaches and skiers to come clad in zany costumes and/or crazy hats. Crack open your costume box, pull out a tutu, your magician’s hat – whatever, and get ready for some fun!
- Join our Facebook community: We’ve posted a few pictures to the Ford Sayre Facebook page – and hope to add more after the coming practices. Check them out at: https://www.facebook.com/FordSayre
- Thanks to all of you who have volunteered some of your day on Saturday, February 14, to help with the Silver Fox Trot at Garipay fields. We appreciate your willingness to help. Unlike a soccer or a basketball game, ski races are major events and require months of planning and multitudes of volunteers. Please remember that we hope every family will can participate in the Silver Fox Trot in some fashion. Even if your child does not race, please reach out to Lou Bregou at lou@flume.net, our race director, and offer your help. Helping at the Silver Fox Trot is a fantastic way to see some fun skiing, the whole family can be on skis, and you can feel good about giving back.
