All
What a Festival weekend we had! In sunny weather 47 FS skiers participated in two races. Thanks to all who made the day possible – Head Coach Jay Davis, Grade Level Lead Coaches, Jonathan Chipman’s highly organized waxing crew, many, many helpful parents, and especially, our skiers, whose positive attitudes made us all proud.
- Although our official ski practices are over for the season, be assured that many eager families will be out on the snow as long as it’s there! Join other Ford Sayre families on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3:30 at Oak Hill for informal skiing that is not sponsored by the club.
- Our banquet is Wednesday from 5:30-7:00 in the Black Community Center in Hanover. Looks like we have 79 people coming so far. Please add your family today if you haven’t yet and let us know what you can bring and how you can help by going to this banquet planning doc.
- Please go to this form to let us know how far your children skied this season if they are interested in receiving a pin for Ski for K’s. Our past emails/posts have more about this program.
- Used skis! If you have some used skis that are too small for your kids and that you are willing to donate, we will happily relieve you of them at the banquet and will thank you profusely!

Ford Sayre Academy alumnus and sophomore sensation at Castleton State, Matt Couture, was officially honored as the USCSA ECSC MacConnell Division Skier of the Year following an impressive regular season.
Couture raced to top-ten finishes in every event throughout the season and finished fifth or better in eight of ten races as well. This included three victories and two additional podium results en route to earning the top spot in the ECSC MacConnell Division individual standings with 585 points. Couture is the first Spartan to earn Skier of the Year in the MacConnell Division since the team moved to the division prior to the 2012 ski season.
The Castleton team has advanced to the national championships taking place this week in Bend, OR.

Dear 1-day a week BKL families,
Thank you to the children, parents, and volunteers for coming together to create a wonderful ski season!
END OF THE YEAR POTLUCK BANQUET!
Please join us on March 13 (5:30-7:30 PM) at the Black Center in Hanover to celebrate the accomplishments of your children! Sign-up here to let us know that you can come.
Please let me know if you have any pictures that you are willing to share with the program (and have included in the end of the year slideshow)!
YOUR CHILDREN HAVE LEARNED A LOT!
Be proud of your children! While the BKL program emphasizes having fun and developing a lifelong love of skiing, your children also have been mastering a number of introductory skills – and many are practicing or have mastered intermediate skills. For a description, see: Ford Sayre BKL Skills Assessment.
KEEP SKIING WHILE YOU CAN!
Our formal practices have ended, but the trails are still beautiful! We hope that you and your children continue to go skiing after school or on weekends. Of note, one of the incentives in the Passport to Winter Fun program is a 1/2 day pass for up to 5 people at the Dartmouth Cross Country Ski Trails! Four other area nordic centers also have incentives for children. If you don’t have a pass, this might be a great way for your children to show off their new skills!
LOST AND FOUND
I’ve collected many things over the past few weeks, including a pair of black adult gloves, a pair of black/green youth gloves, and a pair of youth gray ski poles. Please let me know if you think they are yours!
GOOD LUCK to our Ford Sayre BKL Festival participants this weekend!
Nearly 50 Ford Sayre skiers are at Mountain Top Resort this weekend participating in the BKL Festival! Good luck to our racers tomorrow in their individual classic races!
Best wishes,
Aricca; cell: 603-715-7233; bkl.one.day@fordsayre.org
P.S. I love getting feedback on the program – and especially love to hear from the children in the program! I’ll be sending a survey after our banquet – so start thinking about what went well and what could be improved for next year!
