THANKS:
At this time of year, we would like to express our enormous gratitude for the efforts of the numerous people who make Ford Sayre Nordic what it is. From coaches, to committee members, to Fashion and Wax Gurus, to skiers and parents, thanks for everything each of you brings to our wonderful community. We hope you all have a wonderful, relaxing holiday and find creative ways to stay active in the great outdoors.
FORD SAYRE NEW YEAR’S FAMILY FUN EVENT:
Mark your calendar for the annual New Year’s Day Ford Sayre skiing event (and start doing snow dances!). Assuming we have snow, the event will be held on Friday, January 1st at 1pm at Thetford Academy. Join other Ford Sayre families and friends for a fun, informal series of short, easy cross-country races for both kids and parents, as well as some silly relays. All ages, all abilities welcome!
Let me know if you can bring a snack or cookies for after the events. See you on New Year’s Day!

LOST and FOUND

- Plan for Tuesday, December 15 — 1-day a week program December 14, 2015
INFORMATION FOR THE 1 DAY BKL PROGRAM:
Location: Ray School (Rear parking lot, near school garden and gymnasium entrance) Time: 3:30-4:30 Technique: Dryland (Please wear tennis shoes; no skis needed!) IMPORTANT NOTES:
Parking: Please park in the main parking lot, bus drop-off, or parent drop-off circles and walk your child to and from the sign-in location. DO NOT drive into the rear staff parking lot closest to the start of practice as this area becomes very crowded with children at the beginning and end of practice and has no good turnaround spot.
Clothing for mild temperatures: We still have beautiful fall weather, so please send your children in appropriate clothing. This means: tennis shoes, light mittens or gloves, hat, lightweight jacket. We will be running through the woods and playing in fields and don’t want your children to get too hot – or to get cold. (Snow pants and boots will be too hot for tomorrow.)
Sign-in: We expect that sign-in processes will become more efficient over time. However, please bear with us while we work out the kinks. All K/1 and 2nd grade students should be signed-in and out of practice by a parent. Children in 3rd or higher grades can sign themselves in, however our coaches still need a verbal or visual verification that their parent/guardian is present at sign-out. As a reminder, please make sure that your child is under adult supervision at all times before and after practice! No child may be unsupervised on the Ray School property!
Bathrooms: Please make sure that your child has gone to the bathroom before practice starts. If needed, there are restrooms in the Ray School that can be used under adult supervision.
FORD SAYRE CLOTHING:
We still have Ford Sayre t-shirts in all sizes for $5. Shirts, and other great items, can be ordered on our online gear store, and will be delivered at our next practice.
REMINDERS ON TIPS FOR A SUCCESSFUL PRACTICE:
- Practice starts at 3:30 and is only one hour long since sunset is before 4:15. We do our best to begin on time, so try to arrive early so your child can get checked in and find his/her grade level group. We will have signs posted to make it easy.
- Wear non-cotton layers, wool socks and running shoes (no winter boots), hat, and light gloves or mittens. See our What to Wear When you Ski page for more information.
- Sign your child in and out of every practice!
- Save a few minutes to come say hello at the end of practice to the coaches. They are wonderful and want to meet you! You can read about them online on the Meet Our Coaches page.
LOST and FOUND
We will have a small lost and found bucket by the K/1 check-in area. Any items that are found will go in this bucket.
Lost: Two pairs of Axeman leather mittens. If you have found them, please bring them to the lost and found bucket.

A message to those heading to MSA on the 27th from Emily Silver aka Mt-Ste-Anne-Organizer-Extraordinaire:
Hello skier families,
As of right now, there is no snow at Monte-Sainte-Anne, but there is some snow in the forecast.
If you want to cancel without losing the cost of all of your nights, you would need to do so by 11pm Sunday, Dec. 13th. Even in doing that you would lose 50% of the cost of your reservation, and the reservation cannot be moved to a different date. Unfortunately the policy is strict during holiday time.
If you have a reservation – whether you are canceling or not – please email me at emily.silver@thet.net to let me know you are aware of the hotel’s policy and so I know that everyone has seen this message.
Let’s hope we start seeing more snow in the forecast!
Emily
