- Race Info for Mansield Duathlon at Craftsbury 1-24-16 January 22, 2016Hello parents, and happy winter! What a delight to have snow and seasonally cold weather — your kids have been a pleasure to work with, and we know they are excited to actually be on snow. For those going to the Craftsbury Duathlon, please read the information below carefully. —— Race Info: Format: As many of you know, the Duathlon format will have the kids skiing one loop of classic, then changing skis and skating that loop again. (Using their skating poles for both loops.) It is a really fun format, and kids have had a great time over the years. They will need two pairs of skis to enjoy the format — if your son/daughter has only combi skis available, please let us know. Race Info Sheet: Before each race, we will be sending out a google doc with information and sign-up spots. It has critical information about timing for arrival, course preview, etc., and also place (in yellow) for you to sign your child up so we know they are coming, and place to sign up if you would like to volunteer in one of a couple different positions. (“Cheering happily” is a position that you don’t need to sign up for.) Please do make sure to sign your skier up, as it helps enormously with planning. Also, Mansfield Nordic Club has asked if anyone would be interested in volunteering in the Finish Zone? They are looking for a few more folks to help with timing at the morning races (meet at 10:20am) and also the afternoon races (meet at 1pm). Please add your name to the google spreadsheet above in the “timing help” category. We send lots of racers to this race and it would be wonderful if we could help them out!
Let us know if you have any questions, and we look forward to see many of you up there! Jay Davis and Heidi Lange BKL Head Coaches headcoachbkl@fordsayre.orgContinue reading → - Plan for Friday, 1-22-16 January 21, 2016

All,
Dartmouth has asked that our skiers – coaches and kids – wear their season passes in the bright orange armbands during practice. They hope that by our wearing the bands, others will take note that a pass is required. Of course, when you are skiing at Oak Hill at other times, you should wear the pass as well. This is a new request. Thanks for making an effort to honor it. We are hoping it can become part of the routine when kids put on their gear.
If you didn’t send your child with his/her pass today, no worries, just try to next time.
See you on the snow.
Ashley and Peter

SNACKS:
Please bring a contribution for snacks tomorrow! We have drinks. Bring anything snack-able to share. You can drop it pre or post practice with Jane or Tracy near the cabin. And join us for nibbles and socializing at around 4:20!
LOST:
Hilary, one of our coaches, lost her black, down vest on Tuesday. She left it near a post in the stadium and when she came back, it was gone. If your child has something similar, would you check to make sure it isn’t Hilary’s? Thanks for shouting to me if you have it.
OTHER OPTIONS THIS WEEKEND:
Putney is also holding a race this Sunday. While our coaches will be at Craftsbury, and thus we will not have coaches at Putney, families are always welcome to attend on their own. Plan on a 10:00 start time at The Grammar School in Putney.
Cheers!

THANKS:
Last week was a challenging week for xc logistics. Thanks to all our coaches for making our indoor days fun and productive and to parents and skiers for their flexibility and positive attitudes. You can go to our “photos” link to see some shots of what we did inside at MCS.
SNACKS THURSDAY:
At the end of Thursday’s practice, we will have our second snacks of the season. It’s a fun time for kids and parents to socialize after practice. Our first one was a great success – lots of food & smiles. We will have a table set-up and provide drinks (cocoa, lemonade) and we have reusable cups for the kids.
We are asking families to please bring something to share (homemade or store-bought). Anything snackable is welcome – cookies, chips, fruit. You may drop-off your contribution at 3:30pm or bring it to the party at around 4:20 – please come find us by the hut at the far end of the parking lot.
Thanks,
Tracy Zuckerman & Jane Phipps
