Matt Purcell
U12 Head Coach, Matt Purcell, brings a sincere passion to the sport of skiing and a lot of enthusiasm for ski racing to Ford Sayre. Matt grew up in the northern New York’s snowbelt region and at an early age, devoted himself to competitive ski racing. During his teen years he lived and trained in Portillo Chile. He has raced throughout North and South America and spent two years racing in Europe. In college he participated on two alpine teams and was named a Collegiate All-American when he led Paul Smiths College to a national title in 1977.
After graduating from the University of Vermont in 1982 he started his coaching career at Ski Windham, eventually becoming the Program Director, before moving to the Upper Valley in 1989. He began coaching with the Ford Sayre program in 1990 and continues to instill his love for the sport with our athletes today. Matt is a USSA Level 300 certified alpine coach, a PSIA Level III certified ski instructor, licensed TD and Referee.
When not coaching with the Ford Sayre program he can be found free skiing and spending time with his sons, Nicholas and Alexander, and his wife Cornelia.
